Some observations from life's experiences:
- Inspiration: It is cheaper to inspire than to motivate. Inspiration is a one-time effort. Motivation has a much higher frequency. Inspire with an authentic vision. And also explain the why behind the vision.
- Procrastination: The best way to beat it is to start without thinking. This is one aspect of life where it is a good idea to keep the brains out.
- Fueling: You are lucky if have ambitious people in your work and personal life. To stay lucky, you will need to keep fueling their ambition. Else, they will leave. Different people need different fuel.
- Loyalty: Practice loyalty. It is a rare trait in today's world where everything seems to be tactical and short-lived. If you are loyal to someone, let them know. No point hiding it. Wonders happen over time due to loyalty.
- Organizing: It helps to get organized in key aspects of your life. Getting organized the first time takes some effort. After that, everything will go into a "specified slot". Your mind will be free to focus on the most important thing in your life.
- Asking: Learn the skill of asking. It will solve big problems in life. To ask, one needs to understand. And to understand, one needs to observe and think.
- Express: The art of truthful expression in today's world of short messages will help you stand out. To start, write every message or email the way you would speak. Be explicit.
- Quietness: For a lot of people, public declaration of goals doesn't work. And even they get to the goal, they find it hard to sustain it. If you are one of these, stay quiet and get going. As you work towards your goal, it will be easy to filter out people who will support you. Be nice to them.
- Hours: To be good at something, one needs to commit serious hours over a long time. There seems to be no way around this. The good news is that one needs to be good at only one thing to become successful.
- Investing: Learn to invest as soon as possible. It is a good feeling to see your earnings grow while you sleep. Don't delay too long and expect magic to happen. Get real.
- Toughness: Attempt something difficult that you haven't done before. The process of going through it will have a surprise benefit down the line. It will form a base when something bad happens later in life. Doesn't matter if the difficult thing you chose to do was small or unrelated.
- Circle: Work hard to create a trusted circle of helpful people. As you do this, understand differences in their operating style. Some will do things for you. Some will tell you how to do things. And then some will ask why you want to do something. All three are helpful.
