These hacks are from personal experience. And they are downright stupid and comical. But they work. Be it for losing major weight or weekly fine-tuning of weight. So here they are:
- Resizing Dishes
- I reduced the dish size to reduce my portions. It worked well. Then I reduced the dish size further. It worked even better. Try it for food and beverages as well. On days when my weight is above normal, I eat everything that is part of the daily meals. But my dish size varies from small to smaller depending on how much I need to lose.
- Replacing Chewing
- If your mouth isn't able to chew, how will you eat? Replace a good part of the daily meals with healthy beverages. This doesn't mean one goes on a liquid diet. Four simple beverages have been part of my daily routine for a while now. Lukewarm lime water, different types of tea, chai, and coffee. Over time, I've developed many variations of each to add variety to the week. You don't have to go wander the nature to forage the way I do. A quick grocery trip will get you seven different flavors of tea for every day of the week.
- Satisfying Trifecta
- Sweet, salt, and fat. Pretty much everyone I know craves for one or more of these. If you combine all three in one food item, it will be super-addictive. This trifecta plays havoc with our brains. It is best to please these cravings by consuming small quantities.
- Sniffing Food
- Smell everything you are about to eat or drink. And take a moment to register that smell in your mind. There seems to be some good science behind it. I tried it after watching a bunch of food shows and movies where chefs sniff their ingredients. It was a random experiment and it worked.
- Researching Consumption
- I research almost everything I consume. Curiosity helps with the why of consuming a specific item. Think of it as a game. Quick internet research on one food or beverage every day. Within a year, you will have enough material to teach a semester.
The above hacks are diet-related. Incorporating natural movements is another key to weight management. I'll keep adding more useful stuff for this topic.
