Some observations from life's experiences:
- Time: The process of researching and thinking to come to a major decision is a super impactful use of time. Time spent executing that decision the is next best use of time.
- Travel: Everyday commuting and long-distance traveling are sheer waste of time. Try to eliminate, reduce or make it more productive.
- Inside: Some of the best learning comes from being deep inside something. Researching and talking to people before starting something is useful. But getting started and being inside will yield better learning.
- Focus: It is rare to improve all aspects of your life at the same time. Be it your health, finances, career, or relationships. Best results come when you overweight one by a substantial margin. Context switching is a drain on resources for not just computers but even for humans.
- Interactions: Most meetings do not need to be formal and time-limited. They also do not need scheduling far in advance. Do short and many interactions. Combine in-person or video with asynchronous interactions. You will make a ton of progress on your long-pending catch-up list.
- Respect: If you desire something, learn to respect the same. We spend serious hours in formal education, yet devote little time to key aspects of life.
- Learning: Each of us learns in a unique way. Understand your way. And practice it. You will put your learning journey on turbo-charge.
- Endurance: No, I'm not talking about endurance for running or hiking. But about embedding endurance within daily life. Many things build endurance. Struggle, lack of money, tragedy, desire, influence are some I can remember off the top of my head. There are many more. Every successful individual has a different story.
