In continuation of my earlier notes, here are some more areas that interest me:
- Evolving Taxation: Taxation seems to have become a major part of government policy. Each time a new government comes into power, taxation undergoes major amendments. On one hand, some governments are turning socialist. On the other end, some are crafting policies with less regulation and taxation. There are opportunities across both ends. But it will take some digging to figure out the ones that are sizable and monetizable.
- Resource Scarcity: The very basic resources of our everyday life are getting scarce. Clean air, basic water needs, meat, and dairy, produce et. al. Many ways to go after this segment. Create new substitute products. Reduce excess consumption. Re-design lifestyle. Alter supply chains. The bad news is that resources will keep getting scarce. And the good news is that leads to long-term sustainable opportunities.
- Intelligent Warfare: Warfare is already mechanized. More intelligence is coming. The question is who gets access. Or who can either develop or buy such technology? Will this lead to more worldwide conflicts? This one will be an extreme case of haves and have-nots.
- Redefined Affinities: In today's world, we have many life-stage experiences. So how do we define affinity? You grow up in one country. Then immigrate for better education. And then move to another country for work. And choose another new country to settle in. Relationships are diverse in a similar way. So are our changing tastes and preferences.
- Off-Grid Living: Will this go mainstream? Off-grid living does lead to more freedom. But it has issues that still need work. Will sustainable living play a part in accelerating the adoption of off-grid living?
- Hyper-Personalized Media: Our tastes change almost like fashion. Then why are we restricted to mass-produced content? Why do we need to spend hours searching for content that appeals to us? Why hasn't this industry gone big?
- Disaster Management: Disasters will happen. Natural disasters and human-induced. But how do we get better at the entire disaster management lifecycle? Predicting the future ones. Dealing with them. Preventing them. And getting back to normal life. This is an overlooked segment with very little startup competition.
