Some observations from life's experiences:
- Weekend: In current times, any stress-free day should be the weekend. Savor it because it may not return for many weeks. Enjoy your favorite beverage, food, soak some nature, talk to a friend, spend time with loved ones. Do anything that gives you happiness and relaxation.
- Guilt: Carrying long-term guilt is harmful to health. Super short-term guilt works wonders. It can help one adopt good habits and methods. Research has even discovered the best time to feel guilty! It is while you are doing something that you did not want to do. For example, overeating. If you feel guilty while doing the activity, your brain will think why did you do it. And that is a starting trigger to better habits.
- Commitments: Pretty much everyone has failed on our commitments at some point in life. What works then? Stop committing, even to yourself. Start improving. Slow is good. Give yourself a small punishment when you muck up. Simple deprivation is a good form of self-punishment. For example, skip your binge-watching on a weekend or skip your dessert.
- Kids: Kids are one of the best sources of learning. Observe them. Spend time with them. Understand what they do and ask them why. It is an authentic way to forecast the future.
