Some observations from life's experiences:
- Extremes: Moderation produces moderate results. Extremes yield extreme results. This applies to whatever passage you choose to take. Be it the good, the bad, or the ugly. Our thinking and prior experiences influence these choices. There is no right or wrong way. If you are going towards the extreme on something, use a simple test. Choose how important it is and will be for a foreseeable future. Higher the longevity of your chosen pursuit, easier to make the decision.
- Insurance: Smart people apply the concept of insurance to many aspects of life. People like to call it the backup plan or fallback option. As long as much effort or resources are not spent on this exercise, it is a good idea.
- Penalize: Forget about penalizing anyone other than yourself. Do not be vengeful. You may gain momentary satisfaction. But you may lose a serious amount of time and energy in the process.
- Checks: Surround yourself with wise people who check on you in different ways. Needless to say, these folks are non-judgmental. They understand your weaknesses. And have a genuine desire to improve your good side. This is a simple way to build a strong support system as you focus all your energies on the most important thing.
